Peer Reviewe
Metric survey of the monument of Queen Elisenda's Tomb in the monastery of Pedralbes, Barcelona
When an urban development is planned the cartography of this territory is necessary, in the same way before starting a project to
rehabilitate a monument the graphic information about it has to be available.
At present, different techniques are available which allow to obtain three-dimensional models with a different accuracy level and
runtimes.
This paper shows the work carried out to obtain the graphic information and three-dimensional models that are necessary for the
rehabilitation project of the tomb of Queen Elisenda in the Monastery of Pedralbes, Barcelona (Spain). This monument has the
peculiarity of being symmetrical about the wall separating monastery church and the cloister. To do this, different techniques have
been used that allow us to obtain an accurate model and as complete as possible, for the analysis of the construction process of the
monument.
In order to achieve the complete architectural survey the integration of laser scanning and photogrammetric data, and CAD models
has been necessary. Due to the detail of the sculptures and the Queen’s sarcophagus two sensors, with different resolution, range and
accuracy, have been used to obtain the laser scanning data. Stereo pairs have been taken to obtain the 3D model of these elements to
complete the model and obtain an ortophotography.
In this way, a comparative analysis of both techniques has been carried out, in order to decide which one is the suitable for certain
application. This investigation has been restricted to the tomb, in the two symmetrical parts of the monument.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

This paper explain the inverse engineering process to obtain an accuracy three-dimensional
model of a big window module located in upper left side of the Sagrada Familia temple.
The aim is to define a process to generate forms that compose an object starting
from data provided by a mathematical analysis of cloud point’s management. This data
allows to classify and determinate the type of surfaces applying analytic parameters. So,
we are looking for a methodology to define all the surfaces that compose an object. Work
methodology contains three stages: In first stage we want to determine the entity type to
define the surface geometry. Second stage wants to establish the process to generate
the best structure for the digital shape that defines surfaces. In this stage, also, we analyze
the results in comparison with the clouds points using mathematical tools. Finally, we
transform the surface geometry defined mathematically, in a three dimensional shape model
by means of a parametric infrastructure
The project has as purpose to cover an empty area in the formation of the students regarding the limitations in the learning of the different strategies and work methodologies.
This empty area has made us planning the elaboration of a didactic system that facilitates a flowing communication with the student and he can go beyond the specific environment of the classrooms. For this reason our proposal has as reference a more rational use of the student's work time.
To arrive to this purpose we have thought about a group of orderly and concrete objectives according to the two following levels:
Level 1:
- Define a didactic material that can transmit in the more objective and possible way the necessary tools so that the student solves a group of concrete problems.
- Provide to the student a didactic procedure based on a group of tasks with a support material where he must put to test the applicability of the concepts developed in the theoretical classes.
- Start from a system that, if it is solving the practices of the course, allows the student to have a constant reference of a theoretical support outside of them classrooms.
- Define a functional characteristics of the educational material in such a way that it is an effective instrument for the own student's control in the assimilation process of the subject contents.
Level 2:
- Apply a methodology of the practice activities where the singular creative answer capacities of the student's can be accentuated.
- Establish the exchange of experiences and proposals of strategies to the resolution of you the practical subjects by means of previous seminars sessions to the practice.
- Promotion of traverse relationships with other areas of knowledge in such a way that the student can link his answer to the practical activities proposals of other subjects, starting from the knowledge acquired in our subject
